I was taught "Electron Current Flow" in High School Electronics Class in place of Traditional Positive (hole) Flow. It stuck with me all these years even though we still teach (to my utter astonishment) the latter in Colleges and Universities.

Mr. Gara, my Electronics Teacher had a profound positive affect on my career ... more than he mostly likely could have ever imagined.

Tesla, Master of Lightning, Cheney & Uth, 1999.  When I found plans for a Tesla Coil in a Magazine in 1980, I knew I had to build one. My project Won me Second Place in the London Science Fair and an Honorable Mention at the CWSF a few months later. Very happy to see Mr. Tesla receive some much deserved recognition.

Engineering in the Ancient World, J.G. Landels, 1978. It is truly amazing how much knowledge and skill existed hundred and even thousands of years ago. So many cool and amazing small and large feats of Engineering to look back upon with wonder.

While working in Thailand for General Motors, I missed my project supplies (not all shown here) of Resistors, Capacitors, LED's, Rectifiers, Regulator, Digital IC's and other vaious goodies so much we hired the warehousing firm to unpack our stored container in Canada, find and ship it all to Thailand. Never underestimate the importance of a Hobby to your Well Being and Sanity.

Back when we still had Grade 13 in Ontario, I found my grades starting to slip, quit my 35hr / week "part-time" job and immersed myself into studying. Rush and the Police played in the Living Room for months on the endless loop of 8-Track Cassette Tapes. To this day listening to thier music always takes me back home.

A good portable multimeter is worth the expense. Make sure it is rated Cat III or Cat IV and for the max voltage being tested. Electricians have suffered severe burns when substandard equipment failed and exploded.

Never underestimate the importance of good note taking skills. Humans have very poor Short Term and Working Memory resulting in low retension without memory aids.

My Son posed for this photo as part of his Science Fair Journal. A single photo can tell many stories which got me thinking  ....
